Shift Leader

About the role

The Shift Leader is responsible for meeting the shift’s budgeted clinker production target while ensuring safe, reliable operations, consistent product quality and cost efficiency in line with the plant’s annual objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and optimise all aspects of the production line, from quarry to packing plant.
• Lead enforcement of HBM Nigeria safety rules through Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) and ensure team adherence.
• Coordinate plant emergency response, including the Emergency Response Plan and evacuation procedures.
• Oversee service departments to keep production plants in good operating condition.
• Receive equipment after maintenance, verify post‑maintenance cleaning and readiness.
• Manage day‑to‑day plant operations on shift, setting priorities to meet KPIs.
• Coordinate night‑shift maintenance activities and call for assistance when required.
• Monitor results, initiate corrective actions, and participate in planning short‑ and long‑term plant stoppages.
• Ensure compliance with environmental standards, housekeeping and quality management systems.

Required profile

• Graduate in any Engineering discipline with 3–5 years’ experience as a Shift Manager or Production Coordinator in a cement plant.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any Engineering discipline.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of cement manufacturing processes.
• Good knowledge of product quality parameters and quality control tests.
• Good knowledge of computer‑aided systems for kiln and mill operation.
