Senior Urban Designer

About the role

Alaro City is seeking a Senior Urban Designer to lead the creation and evolution of masterplans for one of Nigeria's fastest‑growing urban development projects. Working under the Group Head of Urban Planning and Design, you will shape the city’s physical and social fabric from concept through delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and refine city masterplans, precinct and neighbourhood plans in line with stakeholder input and statutory requirements.
• Produce detailed CAD‑based physical layout plans for residential, commercial, institutional, recreational and light‑industrial zones.
• Create ‘Place Strategy’ documents covering art & culture, sport & recreation, health & wellbeing, education, retail, community, open space and public realm.
• Manage in‑house design teams and coordinate external consultants to ensure design quality and consistency.
• Oversee documentation, quality control, project management and client negotiations throughout project stages.

Required profile

• Accredited qualification in architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning or urban design.
• Proven experience in large‑scale urban design or masterplanning projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively with senior management and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD for producing detailed physical plans.
