About the role

Layer3 is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to lead the design, implementation and support of advanced network services for enterprise customers in Abuja. The role involves managing both existing infrastructure and new deployments across LAN, WAN and wireless environments, ensuring high availability and performance.

Key responsibilities

Provide hands‑on engineering support for switching and routing technologies including BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, and related protocols.
Analyze and troubleshoot network failures, bottlenecks and system logs.
Configure and maintain LAN/WAN/WLAN links, VLANs, EtherChannel, trunking, port security and tunneling (IPSec, GRE).
Design, implement and supervise IP/MPLS services, including installation, testing and handover.
Develop automation tools and internal systems to streamline network operations.
Participate in network planning, routing topology design for core, access, metro and edge infrastructures.
Respond to RFQs and prepare technical proposals.

Required profile

Minimum 6 years of experience in troubleshooting and managing IP networks.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
Proven ability to work on‑call and handle critical incidents.

Required skills

Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPLS.
Switching protocols: MSTP, RSTP, STP, 802.1x, 802.1q, VTP, ISL.
Tunneling and security: IPSec, GRE, VPN, DMVPN.
High‑availability: VRRP, HSRP, WAN acceleration, QoS.
Wireless standards: 802.11, 802.16.
Automation and cloud technologies.
Vendor platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, Bluecoat.
