Senior .NET Backend Engineer

About the role

The Senior Backend Engineer will join 247Bet’s Lagos team to design, develop and maintain high‑performance backend services that power real‑time betting, payments and social features for thousands of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement robust, scalable services using C# and .NET 8+
• Work on core domains such as bet placement & settlement, wallet & payments, live sports data ingestion, and user communities
• Write clean, well‑tested code and actively participate in code reviews
• Develop and maintain PostgreSQL databases (complex queries, indexing, JSONB), Redis caches and pub/sub, and Kafka event streams
• Expose functionality through well‑designed REST and gRPC APIs for mobile and frontend teams
• Own reliability of services, including monitoring, alerting and incident response
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to architectural decisions and engineering culture

Required profile

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Deep expertise in C# and .NET (preferably .NET 6+ / .NET 8)
• Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, event‑driven architecture and data modelling
• Hands‑on experience with PostgreSQL, Redis and Kafka (or equivalent message broker)
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS; experience with Kubernetes/EKS is a strong plus
• Proven track record of mentoring engineers and raising technical standards
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across product, mobile and frontend teams
• Prior experience in fintech, gaming or high‑transaction platforms is an advantage
