Senior Mechanical Engineer – Thermal Power & Projects

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead technical execution, maintenance strategy, and project delivery for mechanical assets across thermal power generation facilities. This position blends deep engineering analysis with hands‑on leadership of multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliability and on‑time project completion.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical lead for rotating equipment such as gas/steam turbines, utility boilers, centrifugal pumps, compressors and generators.
• Apply vibration analysis, thermography and oil analysis to predict and diagnose equipment health.
• Review, audit and approve mechanical drawings, calculations and specifications from contractors and OEMs.
• Oversee Planned Preventative Maintenance, Predictive Maintenance and Condition‑Based Maintenance programs.
• Plan and manage major plant outages, turnarounds and statutory inspections.
• Lead root‑cause investigations and implement long‑term engineering solutions.
• Manage mechanical CapEx projects from concept through commissioning, including budgeting, scheduling and contractor coordination.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s or MBA preferred).
• Minimum 10 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in utilities or power sector.
• At least 5 years focused on rotating equipment, plant maintenance and reliability.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing EPC contractors.
