Senior Legal Associate (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a technology company enabling businesses in Africa to accept payments online and offline, is looking for a Senior Legal Associate to join its Legal team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, you will ensure that products and operations comply with legal, regulatory and ethical standards while driving efficient legal processes in a fast‑growing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as merchant, partner, NDA and vendor contracts.
• Develop and maintain contract templates, clause libraries and playbooks to improve consistency.
• Maintain audit‑ready contract repositories and documentation systems.
• Provide legal support to cross‑functional teams including fraud, HR, finance, sales, product and engineering.
• Assist with corporate governance, litigation support and advisory services.
• Drive process improvements and scalable legal workflows using legal technology tools.

Required profile

• Law degree with at least 7 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience in financial services or fintech is a strong asset.
• Tech‑savvy, comfortable with Microsoft Office and legal tech platforms.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, stakeholder management and project management abilities.
• Strong analytical judgment, detail‑oriented and able to thrive in a high‑growth, dynamic environment.
