Senior Internal Auditor – Lagos

About the role

The Senior Internal Auditor will provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of Mikano’s internal controls, risk management processes and compliance with policies and regulations. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, the role will lead audit engagements across operational, financial and compliance areas to support efficient and compliant business operations.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in developing the annual risk‑based audit plan.
• Conduct risk assessments across departments to identify key risk areas.
• Lead preliminary surveys and process reviews to understand control environments.
• Design audit programs and testing procedures for assigned engagements.
• Execute operational, financial, compliance and special audits in line with approved plans.
• Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and business processes.
• Assess compliance with company policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
• Monitor adherence to delegated authority limits and approval processes.
• Prepare comprehensive working papers and maintain audit evidence.
• Draft audit findings, observations and recommendations for management review.
• Track management action plans and report progress to the Head of Internal Audit.

Required profile

• BSc/HND in Accounting or related discipline.
• Professional certification such as ICAN, ACCA, CIA, CISA (required); MBA or certifications in Risk Management/Fraud Examination (advantage).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Accounting, Internal Audit, Risk Management, Compliance or Corporate Governance.
• At least 5 years in a managerial role within a manufacturing environment.
