Senior HR Specialist – Payroll

About the role

The Senior HR Specialist – Payroll will own the end‑to‑end payroll process for a fast‑moving FMCG company in Lagos. You will ensure accurate, timely salary payments while maintaining compliance with Nigerian labour and tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full payroll cycle, including onboarding, exits, salary changes, allowances, deductions, leave payments, bonuses and final settlements.
• Process payroll through the payroll system, validate outputs and generate approved payment files for Finance.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as PAYE, Pension, NHF, NSITF, ITF and other remittances.
• Maintain payroll records and controls, guaranteeing accuracy, confidentiality and audit readiness.
• Prepare payroll reports, manpower cost analyses and compensation insights for management decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience managing payroll in an FMCG environment.
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting, compensation administration and reconciliation.
• Hands‑on experience with payroll and HRIS systems.
• In‑depth knowledge of Nigerian labour laws, personal income tax, pensions and statutory remittances.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and high level of confidentiality.
