Senior Grants Officer

About the role

The Senior Grants Officer will lead the financial management of MSI Nigeria’s reproductive health projects. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role ensures budgets are prepared, monitored and reported in line with donor and organisational requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop robust project budgets in collaboration with programme teams using MSI’s internal templates.
• Phase approved donor budgets by channel/DRL and upload them to the SUN system within set timelines.
• Validate and code all project‑related expense requests to prevent overspending.
• Maintain up‑to‑date Budget Variance Analysis (BVA) and Project Financial Reports (PFR) with detailed commentary.
• Prepare error‑free donor financial reports and submit them for Finance Manager approval two days before the MSI deadline.
• Provide consolidated project status reports for all active projects.
• Code, post and reconcile inter‑company transactions, ensuring full documentation.
• Review and approve journal entries before posting to SUN.

Required profile

• Proven experience in grant and project budget management, preferably in the health sector.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance and financial reporting standards.
• Ability to work closely with programme units and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet strict reporting deadlines.
