Senior Database Administrator (PostgreSQL & MySQL)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator with deep expertise in PostgreSQL and MySQL to join our remote team. The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining highly available, scalable database platforms while collaborating with development, DevOps, and data teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, configure, and operate PostgreSQL and MySQL instances in production.
• Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and security compliance.
• Plan and execute database migrations across on‑premises, cloud, and multi‑cloud environments.
• Implement monitoring, backup, and recovery strategies.
• Work with developers to optimise schema design, query performance, and ETL pipelines.
• Participate in capacity planning, cost optimisation, and automation initiatives.
• Document configurations, procedures, and runbooks.

Required profile

• 3+ years of hands‑on production experience with PostgreSQL.
• 3+ years of experience managing MySQL databases.
• Proven experience with at least one public cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and managed services such as RDS or Cloud SQL.
• Strong SQL knowledge, including indexing, query optimisation and partitioning.
• Demonstrated ability to implement backup, recovery, replication and HA solutions.
• Proficiency in scripting/automation (Bash, Python, Ansible).
• Experience leading database migration projects.
