Senior Construction Manager

About the role

A client is looking for an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead technical, operational and commercial delivery across several major construction projects in Lagos. The role covers projects from mobilisation through construction, completion and handover, in line with approved designs, specifications, contracts, quality standards, budgets and timelines. It is a full-time, on-site, project-based position reporting to the Head of Projects or Executive Director, Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects from mobilisation to completion, developing execution plans, programmes and work schedules, and coordinating across sites
• Manage several projects at once, monitoring progress, risks, resources and performance, and recommending actions to senior management
• Oversee main contractors, subcontractors and suppliers, reviewing their programmes and enforcing timelines, quality and contractual obligations
• Supervise site operations, inspect sites, coordinate civil, structural, architectural and MEP works and support Project Engineers and Site Managers
• Develop and monitor detailed programmes using MS Project, Primavera P6 or equivalent, and create recovery plans for slippage
• Ensure quality compliance, review inspection reports, testing results and snag lists, and promote a right-first-time culture
• Monitor expenditure with the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor, support variation and claim assessment, and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure HSE compliance, risk assessments, toolbox talks and permits, and escalate unsafe practices and risks
• Manage stakeholder relationships with clients, consultants, regulators and contractors, and prepare regular progress reports
• Coordinate completion, snagging, testing, commissioning, as-built documentation and handover

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or HND in Civil, Structural, Building, Architecture, Construction Management or a related field
• Minimum 8 years post-graduation experience and 5 years managing multiple major projects
• Proven track record delivering major building or infrastructure projects with multidisciplinary teams and contractors
• COREN registration preferred for engineers, ARCON for architects; PMP, PRINCE2 or construction management certification is an advantage
• Preference for large-scale commercial, hospitality, healthcare, institutional, retail and PPP/infrastructure projects

• Microsoft Office and CAD software
