Senior Accountant

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead financial operations for a construction‑focused organisation, ensuring accurate reporting, statutory compliance and adherence to ISO 9001:2015 documentation standards. The role combines budgeting, cost analysis, audit coordination and project profitability monitoring to support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements in line with IFRS and local regulations.
• Manage general ledger, reconcile accounts and drive timely month‑end and year‑end closes.
• Monitor project budgets, track cost variances and provide financial insights to project managers.
• Develop and maintain cost‑control systems that meet ISO 9001:2015 documentation requirements.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring readiness for ISO and statutory reviews.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, guaranteeing timely processing and accurate records.
• Prepare tax computations and filings in compliance with Nigerian tax laws.
• Generate management reports and dashboards covering cash flow, profitability and cost‑to‑completion analysis.
• Support procurement and contracts teams with financial evaluations and payment schedules.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and contribute to risk assessments and mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• ACA or ICAN certification (required).
• 10‑11 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project‑based environments.
• Master’s degree or MBA (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, Nigerian tax legislation and ISO 9001:2015 documentation.
