Resident OpenShift Support Engineer

About the role

The Resident OpenShift Support Engineer will be based on‑site in Lagos, providing day‑to‑day technical support for on‑premises Red Hat OpenShift clusters across production, staging and non‑production environments. You will monitor cluster health, triage alerts, and ensure platform stability while collaborating with internal teams and Red Hat support when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain health of control plane, worker nodes, etcd, storage, networking, ingress, certificates, capacity and workloads.
• Investigate alerts, differentiate real incidents from false positives, and recommend corrective actions.
• Perform operational tasks such as workload scaling, node cordoning/draining, configuration corrections and applying known OpenShift workarounds.
• Troubleshoot platform issues including pod crash loops, resource exhaustion, image pull failures, storage problems, ingress/routing errors, network policy conflicts and probe failures.
• Support OpenShift lifecycle activities: patching, minor version upgrades, backup/restore validation, certificate rotation, capacity reviews and upgrade readiness assessments.
• Assist with security hardening – RBAC, Security Context Constraints, certificates and network policies.
• Collect diagnostic data (logs, metrics, must‑gather) and coordinate Red Hat support cases.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience supporting Red Hat OpenShift clusters in a production environment.
• Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex platform incidents.
• Ability to work on‑site with occasional remote day, communicating clearly with stakeholders during incidents.
