Resident Internal Control Officer

About the role

The Resident Internal Control Officer will support a state‑owned microfinance bank by ensuring that branch operations adhere to internal policies, regulatory standards, and best‑practice risk controls. This full‑time position is based in the Lagos area, covering the Epe and Ajah branches.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor daily branch activities to verify compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct internal control reviews and compliance audits, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Identify, investigate, and report operational risks, control weaknesses, and policy violations.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to protect bank assets and improve operational efficiency.
• Prepare periodic internal control and compliance reports for senior management.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on risk management and control procedures.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, or a related numerate discipline.
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in microfinance banks, commercial banks, or finance houses.
• Partial qualification in ICAN or ACA is an advantage.
