Research Assistant – Research and Policy

About the role
The Research Assistant – Research and Policy will support the design, implementation and analysis of research projects that inform gender‑equity advocacy and policy reform in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. You will work closely with programme teams to generate evidence, synthesize findings and translate them into actionable policy briefs and knowledge products.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct desk reviews, literature reviews, environmental scans and evidence syntheses on thematic areas such as gender equality, sexual and gender‑based violence, sexual and reproductive health, digital rights and youth development.
- Assist in designing research protocols, surveys, assessment tools and learning initiatives; support data collection, management and basic quantitative/qualitative analysis.
- Monitor emerging research, policy developments, legislation and public discourse; identify trends, misinformation and advocacy opportunities.
- Prepare policy briefs, technical papers, research reports, abstracts and other knowledge products for diverse audiences.
- Support stakeholder mapping, policy engagement activities and the development of advocacy materials, fact sheets and briefing notes.
- Provide background research and evidence synthesis for concept notes, grant proposals, donor reporting and technical submissions.
- Document research findings, lessons learned and best practices while maintaining an organized repository of publications and datasets.
Required profile
- Strong research background with experience in desk‑based reviews and field data collection.
- Excellent analytical and writing skills, able to produce clear, evidence‑based materials.
- Passion for advancing gender equity, eliminating sexual and gender‑based violence and supporting evidence‑informed policy.
