Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Nonprofit Leader

About the role

The Visiola Foundation seeks a visionary Chief Operating Officer to lead its mission of empowering African girls and young women in STEM. Based in Abuja, the COO will report to the Board of Trustees and oversee all staff and volunteers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide inclusive, transparent executive leadership aligned with the Board’s mission.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations, strategic planning, and implementation of organizational goals.
• Mentor and motivate internal team leaders to grow impact, programs, and fundraising.
• Maintain strong Board relationships, attend meetings, and communicate progress and risks.
• Drive development and fundraising to secure multi‑year unrestricted funding.
• Manage financial resources, budgets, and ensure fiscal integrity.
• Represent the organization publicly and oversee marketing and communications.

Required profile

• Minimum five years experience as CEO, Managing Director, Executive Director or equivalent in nonprofit, foundation, government or industry.
• Proven track record of organizational growth and board leadership.
• Strong business acumen with experience in diverse functions such as marketing, HR, and finance.
• Excellent communication, public speaking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Advanced degree in business administration, finance, law or related field preferred.
