Remote Staff Software Engineer (Python/ML) – Fraud Prevention

About the role

Paxful is seeking a seasoned Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of fraud‑prevention solutions for its global crypto marketplace. This remote, full‑time position focuses on building secure, scalable backend services that protect millions of users across more than 170 countries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain production‑ready Python code for fraud detection, trading, and compliance systems.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, ensuring high code quality and reliability.
• Identify architectural gaps, propose improvements, and apply design patterns for future scalability.
• Debug complex issues across services, data flows, and third‑party integrations.
• Break down large epics into actionable tasks, prioritize work, and communicate progress to cross‑functional teams.
• Document solutions and share knowledge within the engineering organization.

Required profile

• 10+ years of professional software development experience, preferably in fintech or crypto.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities in financial technology contexts.
• Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Based in the Americas or Europe (UTC‑5 to UTC+3 time zones).
