Remote Backend Engineer – Node.js & AWS

About the role

We are looking for a Remote Backend Engineer to join an advertising‑industry client of WorkMotion. You will design, build, and maintain high‑performance microservices and back‑end components that power critical business functions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain microservices and back‑end components using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Ensure optimal database performance and fast response to front‑end requests.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and stakeholders on design and integration.
• Write testable, reusable, and efficient code while implementing security and data‑protection measures.
• Run diagnostic tests, fix defects, and provide technical support.
• Document server‑side processes, database schemas, message events and sagas, and prepare reports.
• Recommend and implement improvements to processes, technologies, and stay updated on Node.js and AWS advancements.
• Participate in code and technical design reviews, estimate workloads, and mentor team members.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience as a Backend Engineer or similar role.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js with TypeScript and modern web stacks.
• Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.
• Experience with authentication and authorization across multiple systems.
• Deep understanding of scalable application design principles.
• Ability to design database schemas that support business processes.
• Knowledge of event‑driven architecture, message buses, and pub/sub systems.
• Proven expertise in automated testing platforms and unit testing.
