Remote Backend Engineer – Build Scalable APIs for Trust & Safety

About the role

Trustlab is a fast‑growing VC‑backed startup tackling online misinformation, hate speech, child endangerment and extreme violence. We are looking for a remote Backend Engineer who will design and implement scalable, secure APIs and data pipelines that power our Trust & Safety SaaS platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop customer‑facing APIs for our SaaS product.
• Implement scalable backend services and optimize latency to meet SLA requirements.
• Build secure, reliable storage systems for customer and business data.
• Create batch and real‑time data pipelines for critical business problems.
• Own end‑to‑end system performance, troubleshooting and reliability.

Required profile

• Technical Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of professional software development experience, coding at least 50 % of the time.
• Experience building server backends or designing data pipelines, with strong knowledge of databases and analytics systems.
• Ability to write high‑quality, well‑tested code.

Required skills

• Python (primary language).
• Go or C++ (nice to have).
• API development and backend engineering.
• Latency/throughput optimization.
• Batch and real‑time data pipeline construction.
• Database design, warehousing and analytics.
