Psychosocial Support Team Leader (Zamfara)

About the role

The Psychosocial Support (PSS) Team Leader will oversee the planning and delivery of mental health and psychosocial activities in Zamfara, Nigeria. Reporting to the Project Manager and technically supervised by the MHPSS Specialist, the role ensures quality implementation, supervision of PSS workers, social workers and psychologists, and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Directly supervise PSS Workers, Social Workers and Psychologists, including onboarding, induction and performance monitoring.
• Ensure adherence to protection principles, code of conduct and internal SOPs.
• Conduct weekly case conferences to support staff handling of critical cases.
• Monitor community‑based PSS delivery against MHPSS guidelines and track response times via the internal MHPSS platform.
• Identify staffing gaps and training needs, communicating them to the Protection Program Referent and MHPSS Specialist.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day MHPSS activities with the Project Manager, produce weekly activity plans and maintain the referral database.
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports to the Project Manager and Program Protection Referent.
• Represent INTERSOS in coordination groups, clusters and meetings with donors, humanitarian actors and local authorities.

Required profile

• Experience supervising PSS staff, psychologists or social workers in a humanitarian context.
• Strong knowledge of protection principles (PSEA, do no harm, confidentiality, non‑discrimination).
• Ability to design and implement community‑based psychosocial activities following international guidelines.
• Excellent coordination and reporting skills.
