Project Officer – Institutional Support & Investments (EU Delegation Nigeria)

About the role

The EU Delegation in Abuja is seeking a Project Officer to support the Regional Cooperation section. The role focuses on institutional support and investment promotion under the Global Gateway initiative, aiming to attract large‑scale infrastructure projects in digital, energy, transport and other priority sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Support policy and sectoral dialogue with ECOWAS, its agencies, EU Member States, development partners, financial institutions and the private sector.
• Coordinate and monitor EU support to ECOWAS, identifying investment opportunities that align with Global Gateway objectives.
• Prepare analyses, briefing notes and reports on investment trends and sectoral developments.
• Assist the Team Leader in planning, implementing and evaluating regional cooperation projects.
• Contribute to occasional atypical working hours and occasional travel as required.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in political science, international relations, economics or a related field.
• Experience in policy analysis, regional cooperation or investment promotion, preferably within an EU or international context.
• Strong understanding of ECOWAS structures and the EU’s external action framework.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
