Project Manager – Road/Highway Construction

About the role

Hartland Nigeria Limited is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the full lifecycle of multiple road, highway and civil infrastructure projects. The role combines technical expertise with hands‑on leadership to deliver projects safely, on time and profitably.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project P&L, including estimating, budgeting, cost tracking and monthly financial forecasts.
• Develop, implement and control detailed CPM schedules to optimise crew and equipment utilisation.
• Coordinate procurement and rental of key materials such as asphalt, concrete, pipe and large equipment, negotiating pricing and delivery.
• Identify scope changes, prepare claim documentation and negotiate settlements with clients and subcontractors.
• Provide technical guidance to site superintendents, resolve field issues and ensure seamless coordination of all trades.
• Ensure construction activities comply with plans, specifications, regulatory codes and quality standards (e.g., compaction tests, mix‑design compliance).
• Enforce corporate and site‑specific safety programmes for all staff and subcontractors.
• Promote sustainable practices and innovative construction methods.
• Act as primary liaison with clients, engineers, inspectors and public officials, maintaining strong relationships and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing road or highway construction projects from inception to completion.
• Strong financial acumen with responsibility for project P&L.
• Ability to lead and supervise large site teams (up to 100 staff) and coordinate multiple trades.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to manage scope changes and claims.
• Commitment to safety, quality and sustainability standards.
