About the role
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead infrastructure interventions under the STaR Project (Stabilization and Reconciliation in the Lake Chad Region). The role combines technical oversight, budget management, and partnership coordination to deliver conflict‑sensitive, community‑driven infrastructure that supports vulnerable populations.
Key responsibilities
- Lead technical, financial, monitoring and reporting activities throughout the project cycle, ensuring compliance with CRS quality standards, KfW/BMZ donor requirements, and Nigerian regulations.
- Supervise technical staff, site supervisors, and contractors; manage team dynamics, provide coaching, and oversee performance management.
- Integrate learning into project activities and coordinate evaluation in line with CRS MEAL policy.
- Identify and report implementation, procurement, contractor performance, and ESHS issues to adjust plans and schedules.
- Develop and strengthen partnerships with community structures, government agencies, contractors, and local NGOs.
- Represent CRS with donors, UN agencies, INGOs, and local authorities on infrastructure and stabilization programming.
- Coordinate financial, material, and human resources for quality implementation; conduct budget reviews and ensure timely reporting.
- Assess capacity needs of partners and communities, contributing to technical assistance and sustainability measures such as O&M systems.
- Prepare trend analysis reports and ensure complete project documentation.
Required profile
- Proven experience managing infrastructure projects in humanitarian or development contexts.
- Strong knowledge of donor compliance, government regulations, and conflict‑sensitive programming.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors.
- Excellent communication and partnership‑building skills with government, NGOs, and community groups.
- Capacity to oversee budgeting, financial tracking, and reporting.
