Project Controller

About the role

We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Project Controller to act as the financial and operational co‑pilot for our Project Managers. You will support large‑scale electromechanical and infrastructure projects, providing strategic insights, managing risks, and optimizing profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of the financial health of assigned projects, monitoring actuals versus budget/forecast.
• Prepare monthly Project Status Reports, analyse variances, identify trends and highlight financial risks and opportunities.
• Conduct deep‑dive analyses of project cost structures to ensure accuracy and identify cost‑optimization opportunities.
• Partner with commercial and proposal teams during pre‑contract phases, reviewing tender costings and assessing financial implications of contract terms.
• Support project delivery by tracking budgets, forecasts, expenditures and managing project controls systems.
• Prepare budget allocations, cost forecasts and cash‑flow forecasts to manage working capital.
• Validate vendor invoices against milestones, drive debt collection and optimise billing schedules.
• Administer commercial instruments such as insurance policies and performance bonds.
• Act as a trusted business partner to Project Managers and engineering teams, providing financial data for decision‑making.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and corporate finance teams to support project approvals and ensure compliance with corporate policies and ISO standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Engineering or a related commercial discipline.
• Minimum 8 + years of progressive experience in project controls, cost management and project accounting, preferably in engineering, construction or power/energy sectors.
• Proven experience managing the financial aspects of complex, large‑scale projects from tendering to completion.
• Strong understanding of project accounting principles such as revenue recognition, work‑in‑progress analysis and project costing methods.
