Production Supervisor - Injection Moulding

About the role

A plastic manufacturing company, scaling from a regional factory to a national brand, is hiring a Production Supervisor for its Aba plant, which is the core production hub focused on injection moulding. The supervisor takes full ownership of daily production (man, machine, material, output) and delivers quality products on time, at target cost, with a zero-downtime culture. The position reports to the Plant / Operations Manager and is full-time and on-site.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and run the daily and weekly production schedule from sales orders, meet daily tonnage and unit targets with a 100% OEE focus, reduce changeover time and control scrap rate
• Manage injection moulding, blow moulding and extrusion machines; work with maintenance on preventive maintenance and keep a mold register, machine logbook and downtime tracker
• Ensure first-off approval, in-line QC, weight and thickness control, and enforce SOPs such as material mixing ratios, heating temperatures and cycle times
• Lead over 200 production staff across shifts, run daily toolbox meetings, shift handovers, discipline and attendance checks, and train operators on machine handling and safety
• Manage raw materials (PP, HDPE, masterbatch), reconcile issuance against output, track resin consumption per kg of product and control regrind usage
• Produce a daily report (planned vs actual, downtime, scrap, power consumption) and a weekly report to the Plant Manager

Required profile

• B.Eng / HND in Mechanical, Polymer, Chemical or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent factory experience
• 3-5 years in plastics manufacturing, including working as Production Manager or Shift Manager on injection moulding
• Hands-on experience with molds, hydraulics, heaters and robots, not just an office manager
• Experience managing 30+ factory workers in the Aba / Onitsha / Nnewi industrial area
• Lives in Aba or willing to relocate; factory-first mindset
