Production Optimization and Digitalization Engineer

About the role

WellSteer is seeking a Production Optimization and Digitalization Engineer to join its Benin City team. This full‑time, on‑site position focuses on analysing production data, identifying bottlenecks, and delivering digital solutions that boost oil and gas output while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain production models and optimization workflows.
• Monitor field network performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
• Design, implement, and support digital automation tools that connect field devices, SCADA systems, and decision‑support platforms.
• Collaborate with subsurface, production, and IT teams to align initiatives.
• Document technical solutions, prepare reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Support technology pilots and ensure all activities meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Strong background in production system and network optimization.
• Solid analytical ability to interpret large data sets.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or MATLAB.
• Understanding of wireless field communication technologies.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or related field.
• Experience in production engineering, surveillance, or asset optimization within oil & gas.
• Familiarity with SCADA, industrial automation, IoT devices, and real‑time data platforms is a plus.
• Knowledge of reservoir and production concepts for clastic and carbonate fields.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
