Product Designer (Mid-Level) - Flipjar

About the role

Rackan Technologies, a Lagos-based fintech building cross-border payments, is hiring a mid-level Product Designer for its Flipjar products (Flipjar Business web app, Flipjar Admin portal and Flipjar Personal mobile app). The designer reports to the Product Manager, works hybrid in Lagos, and is the only product designer on the team at the start. The role is contract for 6 months, with a growth path to a full-time Product Designer position.

Key responsibilities

• Run research with customers and internal teams (interviews, usability tests, surveys, support tickets) and turn findings into personas, empathy maps, journey maps and problem statements.
• Design end-to-end flows and high-fidelity UI for Flipjar Business, including onboarding, KYB, wallets, collections, payouts, FX conversion, statements and team approvals.
• Design the admin portal (customer and transaction lookup, compliance queues, case management, reconciliation, limits and pricing, audit trails).
• Handle edge cases around verification, failed transactions, reversals, limits and fees, and take over Flipjar Personal after handover.
• Build the design system in Figma (tokens, components, patterns, documentation) and write clear handoff specs, reviewing builds with engineers.
• Work daily with the Product Manager, engineers, compliance and operations, and present design work to founders and stakeholders.

Required profile

• 3 to 5 years of product design experience (UX and UI), with at least 2 years on fintech, banking or payments products.
• At least one product designed from zero to launch, including its design system.
• Hands-on research experience, with a portfolio of at least two case studies, one in fintech.
• Able to work independently, set priorities and defend design decisions; quick ramp-up expected.

Required skills

• Figma design systems and handoff specs.
• Interaction and visual design with attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of KYC/KYB, transaction states, limits, FX, reconciliation and compliance.
• Nice to have: cross-border payments/remittances experience, admin tool design, Mixpanel/Amplitude/Hotjar, UX writing or prototyping in code/AI.
