Procurement Manager

About the role

The Procurement Manager will lead the strategic sourcing and procurement function for a manufacturing plant, ensuring a reliable supply of raw materials, packaging, spare parts, and critical services while driving cost efficiencies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a procurement strategy covering aggregates, binders, chemicals, packaging, spare parts, and services.
• Manage the full procurement cycle: supplier identification, qualification, RFQ/RFP, negotiation, contracting, and performance monitoring.
• Achieve cost‑saving targets without compromising quality or service levels.
• Build and maintain a robust local and international supplier base.
• Conduct regular supplier performance reviews, audits, and risk‑management activities.
• Prepare and control the procurement budget, track expenditures, and report savings.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, Nigerian regulations, and international best practices.
• Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, QA, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to align material requirements and optimize inventory.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team, fostering continuous improvement.
• Implement procurement technologies and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to streamline processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field; Master’s or professional certification (CIPS, CPSM) is a plus.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role within manufacturing or heavy industry.
• Proven track record in sourcing raw materials for building materials, cement, chemicals or similar sectors.
• Strong negotiation experience and demonstrated cost‑saving achievements.
• Deep knowledge of international trade, logistics, customs clearance, and the Nigerian procurement landscape.
