Principal Engineer

About the role

Qlay Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Principal Engineer to own and evolve the architecture of cloud and on‑premise infrastructure for a global client. You will lead the design of highly available, scalable, and secure systems while setting standards for reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Own and evolve cloud and on‑prem infrastructure architecture.
• Design and implement highly available, scalable, and secure systems.
• Define infrastructure standards for reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency.
• Drive initiatives around availability, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
• Act as technical authority for infrastructure, SRE, and platform decisions.
• Review complex designs, migrations, and incident responses.
• Identify systemic risks and reduce operational and security debt.
• Mentor senior engineers and raise engineering practices.
• Partner with product, security, and leadership to align infrastructure strategy with business goals.

Required profile

• Graduated from a top university (preferred).
• 6+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, or platform engineering.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and cloud‑native architecture.
• Strong background in Linux, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing) and distributed systems.
• Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, etc.).
• Proven track record designing and operating high‑availability production systems.
• Strong incident management and root‑cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and technical leadership abilities.
