Premises Maintenance Officer

About the role

The International Committee of the Red Cross is seeking a Premises Maintenance Officer to ensure the proper upkeep of its offices and residential facilities. The role involves monitoring maintenance requests, performing repairs, and coordinating external service providers to keep premises safe and functional.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the MIU Admin Service Task Management system and promptly address maintenance issues in offices and residences.
• Carry out routine repairs in plumbing, electricity, and mechanical systems.
• Manage electricity recharges, gas refills, and stock of supplies such as bulbs and switches.
• Order and purchase necessary materials in coordination with logistics staff.
• Supervise external contractors for air‑conditioner servicing, water‑tank cleaning, and other specialised tasks.
• Control maintenance‑related expenses and maintain accurate records.
• Tag and verify tangible assets, ensuring data entry into the ICRC asset register.
• Implement the Electrical Safety Program (ESAP) and conduct preventive maintenance activities.
• Update the monthly maintenance schedule and ensure compliance with ICRC rules.

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent.
• 2‑3 years of experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Basic computer skills (Excel, Word).
• Motivation to work in a humanitarian environment and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of air‑conditioner and refrigerator maintenance.
• Plumbing and carpentry skills.
• Understanding of electrical safety procedures (ESAP).
• Asset tagging and inventory management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
