Practice Director – Operations Lead for Law Firm

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Practice Director to lead day‑to‑day operations of a prestigious law firm in Victoria Island, Lagos. Reporting directly to the Founding Partner, you will act as the operational second‑in‑command, ensuring the firm runs efficiently and delivers exceptional client service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee firm operations, administration, IT, facilities, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage budgeting, billing, collections, financial reporting and profitability tracking.
• Lead recruitment, performance management, employee engagement and staff development for teams of 15+.
• Drive client service excellence and resolve escalated client concerns.
• Support business development, branding, events and strategic growth initiatives.
• Liaise with regulators, government agencies, institutional clients and key stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years’ experience in law firm management, professional services or senior operations leadership.
• Proven track record of managing finances/P&L independently.
• Degree in Law, Business Administration, Finance or a related field; MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Experience in a top‑tier Nigerian or international law firm is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of governance, compliance and board operations.

Required skills

• Knowledge of legal practice management, billing and document management systems.
