Piping Field Engineer – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

The Piping Field Engineer will lead piping engineering, fabrication, erection and site execution for oil and gas projects, acting as the bridge between engineering and construction teams. This role ensures compliance with project specifications, industry standards and supports all phases from design review to final as‑built documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform piping routing studies, prepare sketches and review piping designs, layouts and isometrics against project specifications and standards.
• Check and verify deliverables such as plot plans, equipment layouts, piping layouts, and support drawings.
• Review 3D models for P&ID consistency, layout compliance and recommend design improvements.
• Supervise conceptual layout preparation and coordinate interdisciplinary inputs through IDC documents.
• Develop equipment location plans in coordination with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, civil/structural, process, safety and project teams.
• Control and monitor piping fabrication and erection activities, conduct site surveys and resolve technical issues, clashes and discrepancies.
• Prepare and issue site instructions, monitor material consumption and compare usage against budgets.
• Review and verify Material Take‑Offs (MTO), Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and ensure compliance with Piping Material Specifications.
• Prepare SAP purchase requisitions, material code creation and OSRD reports; review vendor documents and package drawings.
• Coordinate engineering document issuance, revisions and final as‑built drawings.
• Act as interface between Engineering Office and Site Office, ensuring compliance with API, ASME and other applicable standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, specifically in piping engineering, site construction support, fabrication and erection.
• Proven experience on EPC, refinery, petrochemical or gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of industry codes such as API and ASME.
