PHP Software Engineer – Full‑Stack Development

About the role
Crown Interactive is seeking an experienced PHP Software Engineer to join its Engineering team in Lagos. You will work on enterprise and SaaS solutions, designing, developing, and maintaining high‑performance web applications.
Key responsibilities
- Develop, test, and maintain PHP‑based web applications using modern frameworks.
- Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code following industry best practices.
- Collaborate with front‑end developers, designers, and product owners to deliver seamless user experiences.
- Design, implement, and consume RESTful or SOAP APIs and integrate third‑party services.
- Optimize database structures, queries, and overall application performance.
- Ensure security, data protection, and compliance across all solutions.
- Participate in code reviews, mentorship programs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required profile
- First‑degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of professional experience as a PHP software engineer.
- Proven ability to lead a team and mentor junior engineers.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
Required skills
- PHP 7+ and Object‑Oriented Programming.
- Yii 1, Yii 2, Laravel, Symfony, CodeIgniter (MVC frameworks).
- MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL query optimization.
- Linux environment.
- HTML, CSS, JavaScript; familiarity with Vue.js, React or Angular.
- Version control: Git, GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket.
- API development (RESTful, SOAP) and integration.
- Security best practices and performance tuning.
- Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud (optional).
- Database design, workflow application systems, SaaS deployment.
- Java (added advantage) and Power Sector application experience (added advantage).
