Pharmacy Operations Associate

About the role

The Pharmacy Operations Associate supports the daily operations of the pharmacy by assisting with medication dispensing, prescription processing, inventory management and patient service under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. The role ensures accurate order fulfilment, maintains inventory integrity, supports regulatory compliance and delivers a high standard of customer care.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process and accurately dispense medication orders under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
• Review prescriptions for completeness and escalate clinical queries or concerns to the supervising pharmacist before dispensing.
• Communicate with patients by phone, messaging platforms and in person to confirm orders, give basic medication information and answer service questions.
• Update patient records, prescription details and order status in the pharmacy management system.
• Assist with inventory management: stock counts, monitoring stock levels, reporting low stock and supporting reordering.
• Ensure medications are stored and handled according to regulatory requirements, including cold chain and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised and compliant dispensing area.
• Monitor and escalate adverse drug reactions, medication incidents or patient concerns to the supervising pharmacist.
• Support compliance with pharmacy policies, health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team on efficient workflow and timely order fulfilment, and perform other assigned duties.
