Pharmacy Assistant (Injections)

About the role

A full-time Pharmacy Assistant is sought to support daily pharmacy operations and provide excellent customer care. The role is centred on assisting the Superintendent Pharmacist and administering injections safely and professionally; candidates must know how to give injections.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Superintendent Pharmacist in dispensing prescriptions accurately and counselling customers on OTC drugs.
• Administer intramuscular (IM), intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous injections as prescribed, with proper technique and patient safety.
• Attend to customers promptly, process sales, issue receipts and operate the POS machine accurately.
• Receive, verify and arrange incoming drugs, check expiry dates and ensure proper labelling.
• Monitor stock levels, report low, expired or damaged goods, and keep accurate injection and sales records.
• Maintain infection control, dispose of needles and syringes safely, and keep the pharmacy clean and organised.

Required profile

• OND / Pharmacy Technician, or Nursing Assistant qualification.
• 1-2 years of experience as a pharmacy assistant in a retail or community pharmacy.
• Highly proficient in giving injections, tested practically at interview.
• Excellent customer service, communication and drug knowledge.
• Neat, honest, polite and able to follow the pharmacist's instructions.
• Resides near the work location and can start immediately.
