Petroleum Engineer – Upstream Strategy & Business Development

About the role

The Petroleum Engineer will support the Upstream Technical Director in shaping and executing the company’s upstream strategy. This role focuses on identifying growth opportunities, evaluating new projects, and ensuring efficient, cost‑effective operations that meet regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess business opportunities for growth in the upstream oil and gas sector.
• Review and monitor activities of service partners involved in exploration, drilling, and production.
• Ensure upstream operations are efficient, cost‑effective, and compliant with all relevant regulations.
• Support external engagements with investors, partners, and government officials.
• Collaborate closely with the Upstream Technical Director to develop and implement strategic plans.
• Review progress of outsourced teams, analyse reports, and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Prepare presentations and reports to communicate project updates and performance metrics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in petroleum engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in upstream oil and gas, with a proven track record in exploration, drilling, and production.
• Experience working in the Nigerian petroleum industry and knowledge of local regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
