Pan Boiler Operator – Sugar Production

About the role

The Pan Boiler Operator is responsible for running vacuum pans that crystallise sugar from concentrated syrup. Working on the pan floor, you will control process conditions, prepare seed slurry and ensure product quality while collaborating with laboratory and centrifugal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate vacuum pans to boil massecuite under controlled temperature, vacuum, brix and steam flow.
• Monitor and adjust process parameters to achieve uniform crystal growth.
• Prepare and apply seed slurry to initiate crystallisation.
• Take regular massecuite samples and coordinate with the laboratory for crystal size and quality analysis.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of pans, valves and accessories.
• Record operating data, adjustments and deviations in shift logs for hand‑over.
• Ensure good housekeeping and compliance with GMP on the pan floor.
• Collaborate with centrifugal operators for smooth discharge and spinning operations.
• Support continuous‑improvement projects aimed at reducing energy use, improving yield and minimising sugar loss.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Shift Pan Floor Supervisor.

Required profile

• OND qualification (or SSCE with relevant experience).
• Minimum two years of experience operating vacuum pans or similar sugar‑production equipment.
• Ability to work on a shift basis in an industrial environment.
