Operations Manager – Remote (Startup Back‑Office)

About the role

Chore is looking for a driven Operations Manager to run back‑office functions for US startup founders. You will manage HR, payroll, finance and compliance tasks, working directly with founders and a Chief Chore Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Project‑manage critical operational matters across multiple client accounts, keeping each back office running smoothly.
• Handle tactical tasks such as coordinating tax filings, preparing NDAs, and managing vendor relationships.
• Provide strategic advice on compensation benchmarks and financial best practices as trusted relationships develop.
• Research and solve edge‑case problems, from unusual filings to unresponsive regulators.
• Select and recommend cost‑effective tools and vendors for early‑stage, bootstrapped startups.
• Contribute to internal knowledge bases, SOPs, dashboards and operational improvements.

Required profile

• 2+ years experience interfacing with clients or external parties, with responsibility for outcomes.
• Strong written and spoken communication; able to present clearly to founders.
• High agency and ability to self‑manage, escalating with recommendations rather than questions.
• Detail‑oriented, comfortable switching contexts under pressure.

• Proficiency with Notion.
• Proficiency with Google Suite.

• Transparent compensation: $14K USD/year (India/Nigeria/Africa) or $20K USD/year (LATAM) plus quarterly bonuses up to 30%.
