Nutrition Officer (No-B, TA) - Abuja

About the role

UNICEF Nigeria is seeking a Nutrition Officer (NO-B) on a temporary assignment of 364 days, at level NO-2, based in Abuja. The officer supports the nutrition team with advocacy, policy formulation and creating an enabling environment for nutrition programmes, reporting to the Nutrition Specialist (Enabling Environment-NOC).

Key responsibilities

• Support programme development and planning, and manage, monitor and deliver results.
• Provide technical and operational support to programme implementation.
• Carry out advocacy, networking and partnership building.
• Contribute to innovation, knowledge management and capacity building.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on policy-strengthening activities and represent UNICEF in advocacy platforms as appropriate.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy, health sciences or another health-related field.
• At least two years of relevant professional experience, including implementing nutrition programming in emergency contexts.
• Fluent English; knowledge of another UN official language or a local language is desirable.
• Desirable: knowledge of UN rules and procedures, UN or international development experience, and relevant country-level experience in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.

Required skills

• Experience in advocacy, partnership building and results-based management.
• Desirable: analytical, research methodology and statistical skills.

The appointment is temporary, and conditions such as relocation entitlements depend on the status of the original appointment. Visa facilitation is not provided for national officer and general service positions, and candidates must pass reference, safeguarding and background checks and obtain medical clearance.
