Nigeria Compliance Officer (Remote)

About the role

Global University Systems (GUS), an international education group with 30 institutions and around 122,000 students worldwide, is seeking an experienced, analytical and commercially aware Nigeria Compliance Officer. The role strengthens the quality and compliance of student recruitment from Nigeria by identifying and mitigating visa and recruitment risks across the Nigerian student pipeline, analysing refusal trends, reviewing applicant profiles and supporting partner universities in improving visa outcomes and conversion. It is a strategic market compliance role, not a visa application processing role, and is fully remote.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse visa refusals and monitor outcomes by agent, flagging agents with high refusal rates or high-risk applications
• Review applicant quality and pre-CAS risk, and manage refusal notices by maintaining an accurate refusal database for trend analysis and partner reporting
• Communicate significant refusal trends promptly rather than waiting for periodic reports
• Develop and maintain compliance KPIs and dashboards, covering reduction in avoidable refusals, timeliness of refusal notice collection, accuracy of analysis, quality of pre-CAS interventions, agent compliance after intervention, reporting quality, completion of compliance training and partner university satisfaction
• Support the business and partner universities in improving visa outcomes, student quality and conversion

Required profile

• Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
• Strong understanding of the UK Student visa route and UKVI requirements
• Experience in international student recruitment, UK higher education, admissions, compliance or a related field
• Strong understanding of the Nigerian international student recruitment environment
• Professional judgement, comfortable escalating difficult issues
• Desirable: direct experience with UK universities or education providers, previous UKVI compliance or international admissions experience, and experience interviewing applicants or assessing credibility
