Motion Graphic Designer (Volunteer)

About the role

TEDxMaitama, an independently organised TEDx platform, is looking for a volunteer Motion Graphic Designer to create animated visuals and motion-based content that communicate its ideas, events, programmes and brand identity. The role reports to the Creative Director / Communications Lead and works remotely or hybrid, as required, for about 8-10 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Create motion graphics, animated videos, kinetic typography, logo animations and visual effects, including speaker announcements, event countdowns, programme teasers and transitions.
• Design short-form animated content for social media and collaborate with the social media and digital marketing teams, adapting assets to different platforms and formats.
• Keep all motion graphics consistent with TEDxMaitama's brand guidelines and develop reusable motion templates.
• Produce motion assets for live and virtual events, including opening and closing sequences, speaker introductions, presentation transitions and post-event recaps.
• Work with the Creative Director, Graphic Designers, Video Editors, Social Media Managers and Communications team, interpreting briefs into storyboards and managing several assignments to deadline.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience in motion graphics, animation, video design or a related creative discipline.
• A strong portfolio of motion graphics, typography, transitions and visual storytelling.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote or hybrid environment, with good written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred: experience with conferences, TEDx events, creative agencies, media organisations, startups or nonprofits; familiarity with 2D animation, kinetic typography, compositing, visual effects and basic 3D motion design.

Required skills

• Adobe After Effects and at least one other application such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop or DaVinci Resolve.
• Knowledge of animation principles, composition, typography, colour theory, timing and visual hierarchy.
• Understanding of video formats, export settings, resolution and aspect ratio requirements.
