Monitoring & Evaluation Officer

About the role

The Monitoring & Evaluation Officer will support data quality management across state, LGA and community levels, ensuring accurate collection, validation and reporting of health data. This role works closely with the M&E Manager and local health facilities to strengthen data systems.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the M&E Manager in implementing data collection, quality checks and reporting activities.
• Build capacity of LGA and health‑facility M&E officers in data quality management.
• Participate in monthly LGA data validation meetings and provide technical support.
• Conduct routine data quality assessments at health facilities together with LGA M&E officers.
• Support quarterly DQA exercises in primary and secondary health facilities.
• Review facility data monthly, document issues and develop action plans to resolve them.
• Collaborate with the MERL Manager to collate, analyse and present data at review meetings.
• Represent the programme in technical forums such as M&E sub‑committee meetings.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Post‑graduate degree in Medical Statistics or Epidemiology is an advantage.
• Deep understanding of M&E systems in Nigeria or comparable contexts.
• Excellent spoken and written English and strong report‑writing skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and flexible with working hours.

Required skills

• Proficiency with DHIS2 for health data management.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with statistical software such as Stata (preferred), SPSS or R.
• Familiarity with data validation tools and, optionally, mapping software.
