Mobile Plant Operator

About the role

HBM Nigeria is seeking a Mobile Plant Operator to run and maintain a range of heavy equipment in its nationwide quarry operations. The role involves safely operating excavators, loaders, graders, haul trucks and dozers while supporting over‑burden removal, loading and material transport.

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators, loaders, graders, haul trucks and dozers in accordance with safety procedures and company HSE policies.
• Perform mechanical inspections, routine servicing, lubrication and logbook entries for each machine.
• Interpret hand signals and other non‑verbal communication from ground personnel and respond appropriately.
• Conduct pre‑job hazard analyses, identify potential risks and take corrective actions before work begins.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment condition and daily activities.
• Support safety initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of HSE performance.
• Assist with other duties as directed by the onsite supervisor.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 month experience operating mobile plant equipment in a quarry or construction environment.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and environmental (HSE) standards.
• Ability to work in fast‑paced, crowded sites and adapt to adverse terrain.
• Good communication skills, including understanding hand signals.
• Willingness to follow written and verbal instructions precisely.
