Medical Laboratory Scientist (Mid-Level)

About the role

Our client, a reputable healthcare organization in Lagos, is looking for a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead daily laboratory operations and deliver accurate diagnostic results. The role demands strong technical expertise, a commitment to quality, and the ability to manage equipment, reagents, and a small team of laboratory staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day laboratory activities, including receipt, labeling, and processing of patient specimens.
• Perform chemical, microbiological, haematological, immunological, molecular and histopathological analyses.
• Validate, authorize and release test results while ensuring timely turnaround.
• Implement and monitor internal and external quality control programmes and maintain compliance with MLSCN regulations.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory analysers and other equipment.
• Maintain inventory of reagents, consumables and coordinate procurement.
• Ensure biosafety, infection control and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
• Document laboratory records, prepare reports and protect patient confidentiality.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to support clinical decision‑making.

Required profile

• Qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Detail‑oriented with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality standards.
• Ability to supervise laboratory personnel and manage daily workflow efficiently.
