Medical Laboratory Scientist – Abuja

About the role

The Medical Laboratory Scientist will perform a wide range of diagnostic tests on patient specimens in our Abuja laboratory. You will ensure accurate results, maintain quality standards and support the clinical team with timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze body fluids, tissues and other specimens using molecular diagnostics (PCR), hematology, chemistry, immunology and microbiology techniques, including COVID-19 testing.
• Match computer orders with specimen labeling, log specimens, prepare reports and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Identify and communicate abnormal results to supervisors, physicians and patients, and contribute to a safe laboratory environment.
• Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory equipment, run quality controls, calibrate instruments and troubleshoot technical issues.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in a medical laboratory, clinic or hospital setting.
• Bachelor of Science degree in laboratory science from an accredited university.
• Certification from the Associate of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (AMLSCN) and a current practising licence.
• Additional training in molecular diagnostic techniques such as PCR.

Required skills

• Proficiency in PCR and other molecular diagnostic methods.
• Competence in hematology, chemistry, immunology and microbiology testing.
• Ability to operate, maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
• Computer literacy for order processing and data management.
