Medical Assistant

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Lagos, Nigeria. Working under the Migration Health Officer and the Senior Medical Assistant, you will contribute to the efficient delivery of health services for migrants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform data entry, data elaboration and basic analysis for health assessment records.
• Assist with call‑centre operations, handling inquiries and scheduling appointments.
• Maintain medical terminology accuracy in documentation and support archival tasks.
• Provide secretarial support to the health team, including filing and record management.
• Collaborate with NGOs and international partners as required.

Required profile

• University degree in Computer Science, IT, Statistics, Social Sciences, Business Administration or related field with at least two years of relevant experience, OR secondary school diploma with at least four years of relevant experience.
• Experience in computer data entry, data analysis or call‑centre work, preferably in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and prior secretarial or archival experience is an advantage.
• Previous experience with NGOs or international organizations is a plus.

Required skills

• High computer literacy in Windows and Microsoft Office.
• Data entry and basic data analysis capabilities.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Strong organizational and record‑keeping skills.
