Mechanical Design Engineer – Senior Officer

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering and manufacturing company in Lagos. The role involves creating high‑quality engineering solutions and supporting product development in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with senior engineers to develop design solutions and innovative products.
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical documentation, calculation notes and design reports.
• Develop and modify 2D and 3D models using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Inventor.
• Perform engineering calculations and basic simulations to validate concepts.
• Conduct material selection, cost estimation and prepare Bills of Materials.
• Support the sales team with technical information and respond to customer inquiries.
• Participate in design reviews, recommend improvements and ensure compliance with company standards.
• Work closely with production, procurement and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and project requirements are met.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design within an engineering or manufacturing setting.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Good understanding of engineering drawings, mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret technical specifications.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
