About the role

The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer will support Save the Children Nigeria’s two‑year Education in Emergencies and Child Protection project in Katsina State. The role focuses on establishing a robust MEAL system, ensuring data quality, and generating evidence to guide programme decisions.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, implement and maintain the project’s MEAL framework in line with Save the Children International standards and donor requirements.
  • Lead and support assessments such as ASER and TaRL, as well as baseline, midline and end‑line evaluations.
  • Conduct routine data verification, data quality assurance and validation activities with implementing partners.
  • Monitor project progress and quality, document lessons learned and contribute to regular monitoring, reporting and learning processes.
  • Support the establishment of an accountability system, including child feedback mechanisms and community engagement.
  • Prepare timely analytical reports and visualisations for internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

  • Relevant university degree (e.g., Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, Statistics or related field).
  • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning within humanitarian or development programmes.
  • Familiarity with education‑in‑emergencies interventions and child protection contexts.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners, NGOs and local authorities.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
