Malaria Multiple Firstline Therapy Trainer

About the role

Jhpiego is seeking an experienced malaria trainer to lead a three‑day competency‑based training for healthcare workers in Moro Local Government Area, Kwara State. The trainer will support the rollout of the Multiple Firstline Therapies (MFT) strategy by strengthening participants’ knowledge and practical skills in malaria case management.

Key responsibilities

• Review and become familiar with the training manual and supporting materials before the session.
• Facilitate technical sessions on malaria diagnosis, treatment, newer ACTs, MFT implementation, pharmacovigilance, and patient counselling.
• Deliver practical demonstrations using recommended diagnostic tools and data‑recording instruments.
• Guide participants through case discussions, simulations, role‑plays, and hands‑on exercises.
• Support pre‑test and post‑test assessments and contribute to competency evaluations.
• Mentor participants during practical activities and provide technical clarification as needed.
• Coordinate with the training coordinator and co‑facilitators to ensure smooth delivery of the agenda.
• Participate in daily review meetings to assess training progress.

Required profile

• Nationally recognised malaria case‑management trainer with experience delivering adult‑learning sessions.
• Familiarity with Nigeria’s malaria treatment guidelines and the WHO‑recommended MFT approach.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project staff and local health authorities.

Required skills

• Malaria diagnosis using rapid diagnostic tests and microscopy.
• Implementation of ACT treatment protocols and newer ACTs.
• Pharmacovigilance and patient counselling techniques.
• Data capture, recording, and reporting for malaria case management.
