Maintenance Scheduler

About the role

The Maintenance Scheduler will develop, coordinate and optimise preventive, predictive, corrective and shutdown maintenance schedules to maximise equipment reliability and plant availability. Working closely with operations, engineering, warehouse and contractor teams, the role ensures maintenance activities are planned, resourced and executed on time.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly and shutdown maintenance schedules based on approved plans, work orders, resource availability and operational priorities.
• Liaise with operations, maintenance teams and contractors to ensure timely execution of planned activities with minimal production impact.
• Track work‑order progress, identify delays and take corrective actions to maintain schedule adherence.
• Coordinate manpower, tools, equipment, spare parts and contractor requirements for effective execution.
• Update CMMS with schedules, work orders, backlog reports, equipment records and maintenance KPIs.
• Assist in planning plant shutdowns, turnarounds and major maintenance projects to meet approved timelines.

Required profile

• Higher National Diploma or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, Production Engineering or related field.
• Minimum five years of industrial experience in maintenance planning, scheduling or shutdown coordination within a manufacturing or process plant.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills with a continuous‑improvement mindset.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, Maximo or similar.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Understanding of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance practices.
